Southwest Museum
The Southwest Museum of the American Indian is the first museum ever built in Los Angeles. Built in 1914, the building is considered “an architectural treasure and an icon of Northeast Los Angeles.” It used to have one of the largest collections of Native American artifacts in the country, however mismanagement over the years plagued the museum and gutted its collection. More recently the museum was purchased by the Autry Museum. It now stands closed to the public and empty of its collection, falling into disrepair on the hillside over Highland Park.
This campaign reimagines the voice of the museum and envisions what the museum’s identity and exhibitions could look like.
