Spotify Audiobooks x Planned Parenthood
If You Know You Know
This project was awarded a Merit by The One Show’s Young Ones Awards, 2023.
Gen Z is growing up in a time clouded with political and religious interference on our rights. These attacks are focused mainly on the health and rights of women and queer identities and our generation is at risk of falling into a dark age of information on sexual education. Those leading the calls for bans and restrictions know that empowerment starts with education, and are therefore specifically targeting the public’s access to sex-ed through state and local policy on educational institutions and resources such as public schools and local clinics like Planned Parenthood. With 38% of US states teaching abstinence only, which has proven to be directly correlated to higher rates of teen pregnancy, and state-wide bans claiming to be in the interest of “protecting children, and families” how can we connect to Gen Z where we currently are and bring critical information to young fingertips without shame, stigma, or local politics?
Spotify Audiobooks.
Introducing Spotify IYKYK (If You Know, You Know) — a platform available through Spotify Audiobooks, in collaboration with Planned Parenthood, where anyone anywhere can access inclusive audible content on all things sex and health. Complete with visuals, videos, and a chat space to unpack it all, Spotify IYKYK ensures that the most valuable sexual education is provided to those who need it most and puts the power of our bodies back in our own hands.
In addition, Spotify will partner with major musical artists on its platform to offer exclusive releases of re-mixes and new versions of those artists’ top tracks featuring updated lyrics with catchy call-outs to IYKYK. This is sex-ed by people and for people just like us, because if you know, you know.
